Community Information & Support Victoria (CISVic) has welcomed additional funding from the Victorian Government as part of a broader $2.7 million immediate food relief package announced to support families experiencing cost-of-living pressure.
The funding recognises the vital role that CISVic and its member agencies play as a first point of contact for individuals and families seeking help during times of financial stress.
Community information and support services are often where people turn when they are unsure where else to go — seeking assistance with food relief, essential needs, referrals, and practical support. As demand continues to grow, the funding will help CISVic continue supporting families who are doing it tough.
Announcing the package, the Victorian Government acknowledged the increasing pressure on families as prices rise and the essential role of frontline organisations in responding quickly to community need. The funding to CISVic comes alongside support for food relief providers across the state and reflects the importance of early, community-based assistance.
CISVic Chief Executive Officer Kate Wheller welcomed the investment and the recognition of the sector’s role.
“Community services are often supporting people long before issues escalate. This funding helps ensure families can continue to access timely, local support when they need it most,” she said.
CISVic will continue working alongside government, partners and member agencies to support people facing financial hardship and to advocate for sustainable investment in the community information and support sector.
