CIS Glen Eira was pleased to welcome Senator Michelle Ananda-Rajah on 9 July for a visit to learn more about the Commonwealth-funded Emergency Relief program and the vital role community services play in supporting people experiencing hardship.
During the visit, Senator Ananda-Rajah met with staff and volunteers and toured the service, learning about the practical assistance provided to local community members. This included discussions about food relief, financial assistance, information and referral services, and the increasing demand for support as households continue to face cost-of-living pressures.
The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the breadth of services delivered by CIS Glen Eira and the important role community-based organisations play in helping people access support during difficult times. Senator Ananda-Rajah heard firsthand about the challenges facing individuals and families, and the importance of ensuring people can access help close to home when they need it most.
Across Victoria, Community Information and Support Services are seeing growing demand for assistance as rising living costs place increasing pressure on household budgets. Emergency Relief programs provide an essential safety net, helping people meet immediate needs while connecting them to longer-term support and community resources.
