Community members in Glen Eira have come together to support local people experiencing financial stress, donating essential food items to Community Information and Support (CIS) Glen Eira. The initiative, supported by local MP Nick Staikos, generated a strong response from residents wanting to help others in their community.
CIS services across Victoria are seeing increasing demand from people needing assistance with basic essentials, including food and financial support. There are 50 CIS organisations that play a vital role in connecting people with the help they need — providing information, referral, and practical assistance during times of hardship.
The donations were received by CIS Glen Eira staff and volunteers, who work directly with local residents to understand their circumstances and connect them with appropriate support services.
This response highlights the strength of local communities and the importance of accessible, place-based support services. Ensuring people can access timely information and support close to where they live remains critical as cost-of-living pressures continue.
