Community Information & Support Victoria (CISVic) recently welcomed Federal Member for Goldstein, Tim Wilson, to our Glen Eira service, providing an opportunity to showcase the vital role local community information and support services play in responding to financial and social hardship.
During his visit, Tim met with staff to gain firsthand insight into the increasing complexity of need being experienced by individuals and families in the local area. Conversations focused on cost-of-living pressures, access to essential services, and the importance of place-based, community-led support for people navigating crisis.
CIS Glen Eira, like many CIS agencies across Victoria, supports community members facing multiple and intersecting challenges — from housing stress and financial insecurity to family violence and social isolation. Staff shared how demand for support continues to rise, while services work hard to respond with limited resources.
CISVic Chief Executive Officer Kate Wheller welcomed the opportunity for direct engagement with government representatives and emphasised the value of listening to community-based services when shaping policy.
“Local CIS services are often the first place people turn to for help. Ensuring decision-makers understand what’s happening at the frontline is critical to achieving better outcomes for communities,” she said.
